So what are these myths? In reality, you probably hear one every day. They are told to us by our friends, our parents, our co-workers. These people are well meaning, but they are often sorely mistaken.
Here are just a few ways to not lose weight:
Eat a Serving-Size
We recognize that in some cases, it seems ridiculous to just eat a half a cup of ice cream, or drink half of your bottle of soda, but we are talking here about restaurant portions. The amount of food you get on your plate is astounding, and it has increased exponentially in the past 50 years.
Even when you aren't dining out, don't serve your meals family style. You'll eat more when serving out of a larger bowl or platter. Read food labels, too, so you can see that sometimes 1 bottle, or 1 bag of a product, is often 2, 3 or even 4 servings. You might think you are cutting calories, but eating a whole bag of a low-fat food is often worse than eating a small serving of something that is not diet.
All Calories are the Same, Right?
Think of it this way - pregnant women are supposed to eat 300 extra calories a day to ensure proper nourishment for their growing babies. Does this mean they should eat 300 calories worth of buttery popcorn or a whole grain sandwich?
The answer is obvious. Empty calories mean that they don't give you healthy fats or lasting energy, and are more likely to store those calories as fat. Quality is just as important as quantity.
Out-Eat Your Exercise
Most people lose about 100 calories if they run or walk for a mile. Once they build muscle, they burn calories more effectively. However, it's still a lot of work to lose weight simply by exercising more. It is much easier to control your eating, and then incorporate manageable work-outs into your schedule.
If you have a hard time with controlling your appetite, the best solution may to be trying effective diet pills that are designed to curb hunger and keep you feeling full longer. Weight loss supplements can't necessarily do all the work for you, but they can help to push you in the right direction.
Cut Calories at Breakfast
It has been clinically proven that eating breakfast will help you lose weight. Some people aren't as hungry in the morning or they are in too much of a hurry, but they will find that this slows down your metabolism for the rest of the day and depletes your energy.
The key is to ditch the sugary cereals and grab a bagel and some fruit. As we mentioned before, calories matter, and most nutritionists recommend that you get most of your calories before noon.
