Reasons Why Most People Fail at Weight Loss

ByGreg Muir

So why is it that so many people who start out to lose weight end up failing? This for me is very interesting and something I want to look into further. It can't be an individual factor because there's such a high failure rate but I'm sure every example has its own aspects as to why this is happening. When I talk about being individual I'm talking about us as being individuals with our own personal issues but at the same time there seems to be a consistent pattern forming with all who set out to lose weight.

What could the issue be? Being lazy, that could be it what about enjoying food too much, the wrong sort of course. Being unmotivated or just find it all too overwhelming. Let's take a close look.

I think when people undertake the challenge of losing weight their motivation or reasons for doing this are focused in the wrong areas. Most people just want to look better which is fine but for me that's the wrong way of looking at it. I believe a lot of overweight people don't really understand the risks involved with being overweight, or they just don't care about themselves or the people around them as they suffer every day seeing what you try to hide from yourself.

Being overweight kills thousands each and every year and costs the respective governments around the world huge amounts of money. Studies have shown being overweight and the risks involved all come to the same conclusion, by losing weight (and I'm talking a lot of weight here) gives you the opportunity to prolong your life while being healthier and happier than before. If you can be aware of the health risks involved with being overweight this alone should be enough motivation for you to get off your butt and get the results. If you have children this should be even more motivation for you.

Most people tend to look at a diet as a once off event and not a lifestyle choice, this way of thinking can be a big mistake and will most likely hurt you in the long run. If you think you only need to diet for a short time what will happen when that timeframe is done? Most likely things will go back to normal unless you're really committed to change.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there today and I think that has a lot to do with people getting confused as to what's best for them. Take this pill or do this diet without the need of exercise and be amazed with the results, this is just a load of hype and will get you sucked in.

The real proven way to lose weight is with a weight loss plan that includes a diet and daily tasks. Doing this will give you a focused game plan to get you to where you need to go. When it comes to weight loss I don't like to use words like want or like as this gives you an option. In reality you shouldn't have an option whether you want to lose weight or not.

A lot of people don't even know how many calories they consume each and every day and being confused with what to do or eat can make the whole journey hard especially if you're doing it on your own. If you're ready to stop making excuses and find the right motivation and drive to make things happen you're ready for the next step.
