Obesity has been among the major health problems in the US ever since processed foods and fast food chains have settled a good slot in the market. Health experts around the world have already concluded that people with this medical condition are likely to become vulnerable to various diseases. The most common of these diseases are certain types of cancer, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, and type-2 diabetes. Much worse to that is the fact that obese people have shorter life expectancy, compared to the average-weighted people.

It is also undeniable that obese people are not able to perform things as much as others can in their daily activities. As you can see, many obese people can't bend their hips enough to reach something on the floor or even on a knee-level platform. They also find it hard to run fast or at least walk at a certain distance. They tend to easily get tired and exhausted no matter how simple the movement is. As a result, they eventually lose their self-confidence to perform their tasks or to accept challenging physical activities. Adding to the problem is the fact that obese people appear unattractive to the eyes of many. That is why many of them lose self-esteem and thus, insecurities develop within their selves.

Basically, an overweight person can be considered obese if he has a body mass index (BMI) of more than 30 kilograms per square meters (kg/m2). Body mass index is the measurement of the comparison between a person's body weight and height. It does not actually measure the percentage of body fat. If you want to compute your own body mass index, all you have to do is to divide your body mass or weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters. After doing to this computation and you found out that you reached the obesity level, you should better decide to make a big change in your lifestyle. Otherwise, you will end up suffering to a number of medical complications associated to obesity.

One of the best things to do to overcome your obesity problem is to turn into a healthy diet plan, which basically includes a well-balanced diet and regular exercise. Take note that you don't have to skip meals or to do fasting - it can only lead to more serious problems. What you need to do is make a research of nutritious foods that are good for reducing weight. Make a meal schedule where each food in the meal includes the essential nutrients for detoxification and digestive processes improvement. Avoid including foods that are rich in fat, oil, sugar, and calories. With regards to exercise, make sure that all muscles and joints of your body perform some physical actions once in a while.
