The Top Detox Diets Reviewed

ByLee J Scutchings

The best detox diets on the market will help you to both cleanse your body and lose weight.

There are plenty of problems associated with the accumulation of toxins in our bodies, and among them is that of obesity.

Toxins can enter us in many ways, and one of the most common is through the foods we eat.

Many snack foods contain chemicals that can settle into our organs, causing our metabolism to become skewed - but these diets will address this problem and help to restore the natural condition of our bodies.

The plans also help you to lose weight, providing a double benefit.

One of the most popular detox diets around at the moment is the Fat Flush Diet.

This program depends on a 3 step plan to detoxify your body and help you to lose weight dieting.

The first step of the Fat Flush Diet involves using a selection of foods to help remove toxins from your system, and as fruit and vegetables are included in this program, it naturally involves a large element of juicing so make sure you have a juicer handy before you start.

Phase 2 will continue with concentrating on weight loss, and the final phase will teach you how to maintain the losses you have achieved.

The Living Beauty Detox Diet is another of the diets designed to help you lose weight, cleanse, your body, and build up your immune system. If you are serious and want to lose weight dieting, then this plan may be exactly what you have been looking for.

This diet will assist you in renewing your body and returning your metabolism to its normal state. This is a four season program that can make a real change in your life.

Juice Fasts are another way for those who have been struggling with persistent weight problems to finally get rid of those excess pounds.

Many have found that juice fasts are one of the best types of detox to be found, and generally weight is lost very quickly.

When embarking on a juice fast, you will usually consume only fruit and vegetable juices and water. It is thought that not only will you lose weight quickly, but since your body will not have to work so hard at digesting solid food, it will be able to more efficiently remove toxins that have built up over the years.

Quick word of warning though...

Only undertake a juice fast for a short period of time (preferably 7 days maximum) otherwise your body won't get all of the other nutrients it requires from the other food groups.

The last essential needed for a successful diet is you.

You must have the determination and drive to make any diet work for you, regardless of which plan you go for the results will be based upon your inner desire to reach your target weight.

Are Low Carb Diets A Good Thing?

ByLee J Scutchings

Low carb diets are generally considered to be good at causing a fairly quick weight loss.

There are a number of these plans available as they have become very popular recently with dieters.

As with most diet plans, a good deal of the initial weight reduction will come from water loss as your body adjusts to the new chemical balance caused by restricted food groups.

You should always bear in mind that humans have evolved eating some form of carbohydrates so eliminating or severely restricting them for a long period of time could have side effects in the long run.

Carbohydrates help to provide energy for our bodies, so a diet very low in carbs will result in the need for an energy source elsewhere. When the body does not have carbohydrates to burn, it will generally turn to stored fat in a process known as ketosis. This is exactly what will happen when you use the Atkins Diet Plan for your weight loss program.

The Atkins Diet is a high fat low carb diet that will help with quick weight loss. As with any restrictive diet plan, however, it is probably not meant for long term use, and will be safest when used to 'jump start' a healthier weight loss regime.

The Life Without Bread Diet Plan is based on what the authors consider to have been a 'paleolithic diet' that was used by what they assume to be our much healthier caveman ancestors.

Life Without Bread will also not only cause weight loss, but promoted as a basis to help prevent or cure a number of diseases including obesity, cancer, and colitis, among others.

This diet does allow for more carbohydrates than many other in this category, but still relies heavily on fatty meats, cheese, and other high cholesterol foods.

Refined sugars are blamed by the authors of the Sugar Busters Diet for the prevalence of obesity in America. The Sugar Busters Diet allows carbohydrates in the form of whole grains, and this is a high fat low carb diet that will promote fairly quick weight loss in those who institute it.

This is another low carbohydrate program based on what is presumed to be the diet of early mankind. One odd feature of this diet is that it recommends drinking little water with meals to keep the digestive fluids more concentrated. However, water is needed for processing any food, and will generally aid digestion.

When you are looking for a suitable diet plan to get rid of some excess pounds, you will probably find that any of the above programs will help you to lose weight fairly quickly. High protein diets and high fat low carb diets will change the way your body metabolizes its food and can cause weight loss.

However, whether they will be safe and healthy in the long run is something that should always be taken into consideration.

Top 5 Diets That Actually Work

by Bob Wilkiein Health / Weight Loss    (submitted 2012-01-27)

There are many diets circulating here and there such that it is sometimes hard to determine diets that work. Which diets actually do work? Here is a list of diets that have compelling reasons as to why they work, what examples of food each diet can contain, and for whom they are best fitted:

1. Macrobiotic Diet: The macrobiotic diet is one of the many diets that work. It consists of foods that are high in fiber and low in fat. Many people engage in this diet because this diet does not only aid in making the body lose weight, but also enhances self-discipline and spirituality. Foods involved in this diet are whole grains and vegetables grown in season. Another beauty of this system is that it is not deficient in calories - it can provide the body with enough energy so that it can still perform daily activities and exercises well. The diet can also include some fish for proteins.

2. Organic Diet: An organic diet is, again, one of the many diets that work; the word "organic" has a beauty in itself that never fails to capture the attention of anyone willing to go on a diet. What does "organic diet" mean? It means that the foods served do not contain pesticides, herbicides, or any other artificial preservatives. No processed foods, no trans-fats, and no artificial flavors. The diet consists of fruits, vegetables, grains, and meat items that are treated organically. Such a diet aids in weight loss as well as protects the body from the harmful effects of some food additives and chemicals.

3. Glycemic diet: This diet is one of the diets that work - for diabetics. Emphasis of this diet is the presence of carbohydrates best fit for diabetics. The diet encourages consumption of foods whose carbohydrates contain a low glycemic index (the measure of how carbohydrates in the bloodstream can raise blood sugar). Foods included in this diet include whole grains, vegetables, fruits, skim milk, and some types of pasta.

4. Nutrisystem: One of the most versatile diets that work is the Nutrisystem diet. This system consists of foods that have a low glycemic index, protein-rich food, and food rich in fiber. This is different from other diets in which the one undergoing this diet has to eat five small meals a day (mandatory). Examples of food that can be included in this system includes oatmeal (the specialized apple and cinnamon Nutrisystem oatmeal), sweet potatoes with cheese, and soup made from cream of broccoli.

5. South Beach Diet: Who can forget one of the most popular diets that work, the South Beach diet? Here is how South Beach works: First, dieters start out with food with few carbohydrates and plenty of protein. Then two weeks after, dieters add more carbohydrates into their plan. The system intends to instruct dieters regarding nutrient density of foods and the sizes of healthy portions of foods. For the beginning phase, foods included may be vegetables, fish, beef, eggs, and nuts; the second phase includes all foods in the beginning phase along with bread, potatoes, and chocolate. What Do Diets Really Do?

ByDavid Donahoo

Expert Author David Donahoo

Weight Watchers is one of a number of companies that help you control your weight through dieting. The idea is to eat only those foods that are low in fat so that if you eat them you will not store the fat. In the past diet meant what you eat. Now it means more about what you do not eat or are restricted in eating.

When people come to see me they tell me how they are restricted or can't have chocolate, butter, cakes and many other food because the diet they are on does not allow them to have it.

In the case of where a person is allergic or intolerant to a specific food type then this makes sense. If you have Fructose malabsorption, meaning that you cannot absorb it in the stomach, then it is a good idea to stop having foods with fructose in them. But if you are not intolerant to chocolate, then why not eat it if you are hungry?

The question this has always raised with me is how does a diet help you to change your behavior to control your eating in a positive way, when the diet is basically focusing on the negative? It focuses on what you cannot or should not have.

The law of attraction has been mentioned in many books and films for a number of years. In basic terms what you think about at the subconscious level you either attract or create. Based on this rule, if you focus on not having chocolate, your mind will therefore attract chocolate to you. So you will think about it all day long until you have some. Then you will feel guilty because you have gone against the diet. Working this way will never help you to fully achieve what you want.

The better way is to focus on what you do want. So do you want to be on a diet to lose weight, or do you really want to have your eating behavior under control so you eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full and therefore will only eat chocolate when you are hungry and say no to it when full? In this case you are focusing on what you want so you can decide to eat what you want, as long as you are not allergic or intolerant to it.

This breaks that habit you have of thinking only about food because you know you can have it when you are hungry. Therefore you can then focus on other things when you are not hungry and enjoy life.

Diets may be useful for a time, but allow yourself to realize what you are actually focusing on, and then focus on what is important for weight control.
