Cooking At Home Will Help Reduce Your Sugar Cravings, Your Food Bill, And Your Waist

ByGretchen Jack

Expert Author Gretchen Jack

I think that lots of people are turning to cooking at home rather than dining out or home deliveries. The reasons vary, but healthier foods at a lower cost seems to be the biggest reason why. Plus, when you are trying to control the amount of sugar you are consuming or want to lose some pounds, cooking at home can make a huge difference in your results.

Know Your Ingredients

When you are cooking at home, you know what's going into your food. Even if you don't crunch numbers, you can control the sodium, sugar, and caloric content when you cook your own food. Restaurant food often has all kinds of additives in it, not to mention astronomical amounts of sodium. And what is becoming even more worrisome, is where the food is coming from. I recently saw a canned vegetable from China. Ugh! We hear about their pollution problems all the time on TV. And what about Vietnam? Ever watch the Amazing Race show and see their filthy rivers?

And when you cook at home, you won't be fooled by clever names or labels that restaurants use to name a dish. For example: calling a dish "multi-grain" which makes it sound healthy, but could mean they just added a few sprinkles of various grains to a white-flour recipe. You don't know. And not know is the problem.

Its Not As Time Consuming As You Think

Not really when you factor everything in. All it takes, is a little planning. I know many people are daunted by the prospect of cooking at home because of the time. But think about it - the time it takes to get everyone into the car, drive to a restaurant, park, wait for a person to take your order, and then wait for your order is significant.

Most meals take from 30 to 60 minutes to prepare, and clean-up maybe 30 minutes. And you can share these tasks with other family members which decreases the total hours spent. Cooking and cleaning up can be family time, too. Or as I often do, I cook one night for three days worth of food. I advocate this all the time. It really works for me. Even draws me home to eat rather than tempted by greasy mall food.

Plan

Once you've recognized that eating out isn't necessarily a time saver, you can begin to plan your at-home meals to save even more time. When you plan, you can fit your home-cooked meal into your everyday life. Mapping out a weekly menu complete with estimated cooking times is a great way to take control of your home cooking efforts. If you're just "winging it" every night, it can get exhausting.

Healthier

There have been studies that show eating at home is healthier in many ways. Such as families tending to be closer if they eat together. I would think that parents learn more about their children's day in a relaxed atmosphere. Think about it. Would you be more apt to talk about how Johnnie bullied you after gym class when your belly is full and you are relaxed and in a safe environment. And isn't that a win- win?

There could be a lot of residual benefits from cooking at home. Why not try it for a month as a personal challenge and see what benefits you will get. You may even be interested in my eating plan, CiderBeneFIT where all the menu's and recipes are done for you for a month.

Sugar Can Hinder Your Efforts

ByAlex D Tom

Expert Author Alex D Tom

Sugar is a natural sweetener that comes in most foods that we eat. It is a natural element in some foods and tastes great as well. It also helps enhance the taste of many foods that may have a somewhat bland flavor to them. A large percentage of people love to include sugar in their daily diet and use it on a daily basis. However, sugar can be one of the worst things for your body as it will hinder you with your weight loss and fat-burning goals.

Over the years, experts have determined that including too much sugar in your diet can cause health problems as well as assist in weight gain. In fact, it has become increasingly evident that sugar is a major factor in chronic disease and obesity in many people. This has come as a surprise to a large portion of the scientific community who assumed that sugar would not harm you if you used it sparingly. It turns out that sugar has become another element that we all need to write on our enemies list of foods and sources that will block our weight loss and fat-burning aspirations.

Sugar is loaded in many of the foods we eat and liquids that we drink and this can create problems for us all in the long run. In today's world over thirty-two percent of Americans are overweight from excessive amounts of sugar in their diet and one-third are obese from it as well. It is time that we learn all that we can to put a stop to this major disturbance to our bodies by this one source that we never thought could cause us so much harm.

As you carry excess weight around, it can cause many health problems such as heart conditions, diabetes, kidney disease and possibly stroke. It doesn't take a medical degree or training to notice that today's society is gaining weight at an increasingly high rate than in earlier years. This is due in large part to lack of exercise and mobility, inability to make the correct dietary decisions and a blatant overload of their sugar intake.

Glucose is a natural sugar that our bodies were designed to use as energy and could be absorbed properly into our bloodstreams easier to burn as energy for our daily lives. Nowadays, the sugar element of fructose has been implemented into everybody's diet and this has led to many problems with body absorption and has put a stop to any weight loss goals that you may have set for yourselves. Fructose is a major cause of health problems in the average person's diet. It is not that fructose alone will hurt you, but excessive amounts of fructose have been known and proved to be very dangerous for you in several ways.

This is where the effort must begin to keep an eye on your sugar intake. Many people believe that they have everything under control and they are on the right track as far as their diet is concerned, but they must also realize and pay attention to their sugar intake as well. This is not meant to frighten you away from using sugar. It is an attempt to make you understand the right way to use it. As far as including sugar in your diet, it is actually unavoidable in many ways. The main thing you have to remember to do is watch your sugar intake and use it wisely. Enjoy your foods, but do not over-indulge in the wrong ones and your body will function properly and at its best capability.

How To Be Successful In Controlling Blood Sugar And Losing Weight Quickly

ByHenry Crane

It cannot be denied that diabetes continues to be a big health problem for millions of people. The main culprit may be the profuse amount of sugar in a person's blood. Once a diagnosis is given that you have excessive sugar, the very first thing to do is learn how to control your blood sugar.

It has been suggested by some experts that exercise is one of the elements that can help reduce a person's blood sugar level. It is not necessary to join an exclusive exercise club in the gym or purchase pricey gear. "You can simply take a walk every morning before work or even in the evenings prior to going to bed. You can obviously opt to do more vigorous exercise programs, but it is not necessary. Any exercise program that you choose should be suitable to you and your lifestyle and should last for about 20-30 minutes."

You should be knowledgeable about how to control your blood sugar level and at the same time make it a point to consume foods that have minimal sugar content. In due course, it will be easy for you to substitute high sugar foods with those that are sugar-free. Likewise, an additional input is to stay away from carbohydrates which may be quite difficult because people have been used to eating bread, pasta, potatoes, and beans. The publication mentioned above also mentioned that "if you are already eating a low carbohydrate diet and still possess high sugar levels, you may need to look more closely at the foods that you are eating. Leafy green veggies, salad mixes, meat, and most other green vegetables contain extremely low amounts of carbohydrates."

Finally, as you learn how to control your blood sugar, burn your surplus weight by engaging in moderate physical activities daily and consuming small meals. This increases metabolism which helps the body shed off additional fat and lose weight.

You need a fast diet to lose weight. Livestrong.com says that "excess body fat contributes to insulin resistance. Losing weight can help people with insulin resistance respond better to insulin and better control their blood sugar levels, according to the National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse. Losing just 5 to 7 percent of your body weight can greatly improve your response to insulin and lower your glucose levels to normal."

There are various recommendations from professionals regarding the effective fast diet to lose weight. Webmd.com obtained opinions of medical experts who responded with various suggestions like "There is nothing wrong losing weight rapidly.

When it comes to weight loss, calories count the most. The key is to cut back to a daily level of 7 calories per pound of your current body weight, but no less than 1,050 calories/day (the lowest level that can be done safely at home). Dietitians more typically recommend 1,200 calories as a daily minimum."

Some useful pointers are drink lots of water, keep yourself busy so you will not be tempted to eat more than what is good for the health, consume veggies with low calories and eat only three major meals daily with one healthy snack without any junk foods. These will help you become successful in your bid to lose weight rapidly.

At IMJuicing learn How to make green smoothies, How to control your blood sugar and juice easily, its benefits and the proper ways of doing it fast.
