Wow, doesn't this sound great? I'm sure it makes your mouth water just thinking about these delectable tasting treats just flowing over your taste buds, making those endorphins in your brain bounce around like kids in a pool.

It's not easy, but some people have the willpower and the restraint to grin and bear cravings and hunger. But hunger, cravings and missing favorite foods like the ones mentioned gets the best of almost everyone. This is why you need strategies to handle hunger and control your appetite. Otherwise, you're headed toward one negative side of effect of increased belly fat. This is only the beginning...

We are all dealing with physical and mental challenges. That's why your strategies need to be both mental and physical. The most powerful appetite suppressants won't help you if you have no mental strength. Even if you have the strongest will power in the world, it won't last forever in the face of hormonal hunger.

We are so conditioned to leap into action and grab food when we feel the slightest hunger, the truth is we may not need to eat at all. Nothing bad will happen if you don't eat when you feel hungry, assuming you're following all the common sense strategies of a good nutrition plan for burning fat; good things will happen... like seeing your abs! And building a very strong "discipline muscle" which will carry over to other areas of your life.

Fortunately there are natural ways to control hunger that have a wonderful side effect; they are ways to burn fat. The following is the help we all seek: Burn fat 9 ways to defeat cravings, control your appetite and overcome hunger.

Eat a lean protein with EVERY meal. Lean protein foods suppress appetite better than any other macronutrient.
Eat a substantial breakfast and eat small frequent meals throughout the day. Skipping breakfast correlates very highly with late day hunger and even binging.
Avoid very low fat diets. Don't cut all the fat out of your diet. Nonfat diets often increase hunger.
Eat 14 grams of fiber per 1000 calories of caloric intake. Fiber is satiating and provides bulk to your meals without large amounts of calories. Think veggies first, fruits second and high fiber whole grains and legumes and root veggies third.
Drink a lot of water or find a non-caloric beverage to drink when you feel hungry. Water isn't necessarily a strong appetite suppressant, but it does full up your stomach and satisfy a psychological need to consume something.
Experiment with food substitutions, especially carbs to see what makes you feel fuller. Some foods make you feel much fuller that others. For example, most people say that oatmeal gets them extremely full; while a boxed cereal like wheat flakes leave them hungry.
Use calorie/carb cycling or re-feed days and allow yourself free meals. It's a lot easier to stick to a program if you have planned free meals and re-feeds.
Training. Contrary to the nonsense that some keep spewing out, the majority of research says exercise does not increase appetite and may even decrease it.
SLEEP! Research from the University of Chicago and the University of Wisconsin has conclusively proven that sleep deprivation increases hunger hormones and leads to more inadvertent snacking during the day. Don't ignore it. This is a bigger culprit than you might think.

What Really Is Weight Control and Hypnotic Gastric Banding?

As a hypnotherapist, I get many calls about weight control and my Hypnotic Gastric Banding program (also known as Sheila Granger's Virtual Gastric Banding). The first thing I ask is what do you mean by weight control? This question may seem a bit obvious, but it isn't really. Let me explain.

Weight control is different for every person. You may think it means what it says, that I want to control my weight. Well, that is part of what it means, but what else does it mean to you and other people?

Weight control can mean:

• Control your eating behavior

• Stop Binge Eating

• Eat the right type of food

• Get rid of the belly fat

• Increase activity or exercise

• Stop Yo-Yo dieting

• And much more.

From what is written in the list, there are really three important things that need to be covered to have true weight control:

• Eat when hungry

• Stop when full

• Eat less and do more activity to lose weight.

All other things stem from these three points.

What controls your ability to know when you are hungry and so eat, or stop eating when you are full, or be motivated to lose weight? The answer is your mind. Your mind is very powerful. It is more powerful than you probably realize. It controls your habits around eating. It controls your will power, or lack of. Your mind is the place where your eating behavior is stored.

To control weight then you need to control your mind. Your mind is made up of the conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind thinks analyses and creates; but is only a small portion of the mind. The major area is the subconscious. It does not think or create. It is just like a computer. It does what you told it to do. So if you eating habits are out of control, that is because your subconscious mind is behaving in a way that is out of control.

To create your weight control, you just need to have the subconscious mind take notice of what you want and action that rather than the other habits you have been told like "clean the plate", or "you cannot leave the table until it is all eaten." These are beliefs that you have created from that others told you, but they are no longer relevant. So you created these in the first case and you can therefore change them to be what you want.

Hypnotic or Virtual Gastric Banding uses the mind to create the idea of a pouch at the top of the stomach. Therefore, you eat when hungry and stop when the pouch is full and so only need 3 small meals a day.

So weight control is all about using the power of the mind with the body to control your weight.

Control Your Subconscious Food Cravings With Brain Games

Have you every ruined your diet by giving in to a food craving? For many, food cravings and the snacking that follows are habitual. TheFreeDictionary.com defines a habit as "A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition." Does this sound familiar?

It can be discouraging when we realize that so many of the harmful behaviors that we engage in are controlled by our subconscious mind. How can we ever hope to achieve our goals when our own mind is plotting against us? The good news is that we can train our subconscious to help us instead of hurt us.

To take control of your cravings, you need to interrupt the pattern of behavior. When you feel that initial urge, make this a trigger for a new behavior. Feel the craving and do something other than eating. A great thing to do is a mind puzzle. This will distract your entire mind and make your subconscious forget about the craving.

To give my subconscious something else to think about, I do an "N-Back" puzzle in my mind. I think of a sequence of random number and try to remember the pattern for three numbers back. To start, I think of something like, "7, 1, 50, 12". Then, I try to think of the last three numbers and add another number to the end. Something like, "1, 50, 12, 3". I continue thinking these patterns and adding new numbers for a few minutes and the craving is forgotten.

I also use my iPhone for mind puzzles. I have several N-Back games. Word puzzle games and matching games are also very useful for curbing my hunger. "Words with Friends" is great, especially if you have some friends going through the diet with you.

Awareness can sometimes be the biggest challenge when fighting cravings. Sometimes, we get the craving and eat the snack before we consciously realize what is happening! To fight this, I put bright pink signs on my cabinets and refrigerator that say "Do you really want that?" The color snaps me out of the "food trance" and makes me think about my choices. Once I consciously start to think, I can use tools to help me. This gives me the opportunity to play the mind puzzles.
