Strength Training For Women - The Missing Link

ByRon Gasparetto

Expert Author Ron Gasparetto

How important is strength training for women? It is quite simply the key component that has been missing in most women's exercise program for years, and here's why.

Most women who are committed to some form of exercise program over-do on the cardio component of their program and almost completely leave out any form of resistance training in their routine.

And while cardio or aerobic exercise is very important in your heart and lung health and helps in burning some body fat, the key to long-lasting weight loss and in maintaining permanent results is strength training for women.

And here is the reason. Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue in the body, which means at rest, it burns the most calories. When you add resistance training to your workout and commit to it for the long haul you are building and adding lean muscle tissue to your body; you are adding more muscle.

You are now walking around every day just living your life the way you always have yet you now have one clear advantage; you are burning more calories and body fat then you did before because you have more muscle, more metabolically active tissue.

If you do just cardio or aerobic exercise over time you will actually lose muscle mass. This means that at rest you will burn less calories then you did before.

That is why strength training for women is so important to lose and keep off those excess pounds. You are actually building a bigger 'furnace' in your body that will burn more calories every single day.

The other main reason that strength training for women is so important is that it helps maintain strong bones and good posture as we age. As we know osteoporosis is a growing problem moving forward in life, particularly through the menopause years.

And while diet plays an important role in this, resistance training is critical in helping to maintain strong bones and great posture in life.

And don't worry about getting bulky muscles ladies! We don't have the hormonal makeup for this. Besides that's not what we are talking about here. The focus is about building lean muscle tissue over time with a program you can commit to for a lifetime.

Strength training for women is something you are going to hear more of in the coming years. So don't wait, get on board and start incorporating it into your exercise program today!

We are committed to bringing awareness and solutions to womens health. Strength training for women is a key component in womens fitness and is a necessary component in any weight loss program.

If you exercise and don’t deadlift you aren’t exercising. Its a measure of a man. It makes grow men cry. The deadlift is the most important exercise you can perform It is the best test of overall strength It builds total body strength, size, speed and is amazing for fat loss It also is corrective by nature, it fixes back problems when done right Men, women, should all deadlift. Especially sexy women who want nice bums. I’d argue that if you were on a desert island and had to learn one lift…it’d be the deadlift. It is one of the most complete full body movements, the only areas it doesn’t target is the chest, and arms. Everyone should deadlift even your grandmother. Seriously, after you watch this video show it to Nanna be like “Nanna, chalk up your next” The deadlift is all about your posterior chain, which is your lower back, butt and hamstrings working together. Together they are the most powerful part of your body. And this makes you better at sex, trust me. Allow me to demonstrate and then explain. Here are a couple rules when it comes to dead lifting. 1. If it hurts unnaturally, STOP 2. Always underestimate the weight to use before you master it 3. If unsure about your dead lift video tape it and see how it looks Top Tips For Mastering the Deadlift 1. Back straight, back straight, back straight …

The music in this video reminds me of the great 80s movie The Wild Life. It’s used in repeated scenes in that movie as well as this video.

@burbuliukai Probably because they are wide grip pullups.

Vansynoob says:

not too bad. But you should really watch some vids of deadlift of elitefts/smittydiesel etc. Some things you mention and explain as wrong, are actually right. E.g. the “shin scraper”. The bar SHOULD NOT travel around your shins, it shall always keep in contact with it.

23rd August 2011 at 10:46 am

Jackednerd says:

Nice vid. But you CAN get some work done in your biceps too, if you used an overhand underhand grip. And if your worried about a muscle balance than just do an even number of sets and switch your grip back and forth. Also with that grip you’ll be able to hold and control more weight. Adding great thickness to your overall back and body.

OmarIsuf says:

@HZD09 Technically yes but it becomes obsolete when you go over 200 pounds (which every guy should be able to). My answer for a man would be sure but why? Women can use dumbbells
